However, although the data is correct there is a question as to if this was a second marriage by Catherine when she married my ggg/grandfather, Rev. William A. Hallock. Am interested in knowing if this is a truism and just what her maiden name was. Cannot find a DeGroat that she is a member of their family. Rev. Hallock was a E/M minister and I feel they were married out of a local church. The mystery of this marriage is that although they were married in 1794, their first born was Catherine born in 1803 in ONT. Seems unlikely that they did not have children during this 11 year time span. Thus, the theory that Catherine was married before and had three children by this marriage: Staats, James and a Rebecca. These childen suddenly show up in the Elizabethtown 1805 census although were never heard of previously. Would appreciate a verification.
